This is a truly exciting milestone year as we celebrate 140 years of history, community, and achievement! This website will be your central hub for everything related to the celebration, including information on events, merchandise, competitions, fundraising, stories from our community, history, archives, and much more. Introduction from our Head of School
Celebration is a discipline. Whilst that may seem paradoxical, in today's busy world, stopping to look back, to see the good, to show gratitude to those whose shoulder's we stand on, is a lost art.
At St Andrew's Cathedral School, we believe in the importance of celebration and this year we are celebrating 140 years of the School's life.
From 1885-2025 the school has been a Cathedral School, a Choir School, a Christian School, a City School and now it is also a Co-educational School and a Collective with Gawura School.
Our school motto for the last 140 years has been Via Crucis Via Lucis: The Way of the Cross is the Way of Light. As a School those words have guided us through both the good times and the hard times and have inspired our theme for the 140th which is Legacy of Light.
This year we will take time to look back, to celebrate the light and to show gratitude to those who have invested so much of themselves to make this School what it is today. As with any New Year, we are also approaching this new decade with a spirit of reflection. This year we are writing our next Strategic Plan 2026-2030 and as such we will learn lessons from the past that we may bring light to future generations.

Our 140th Anniversary image
Our chosen image for this special year draws deeply from our School identity. At its centre is a clear and bold "140" surrounded by small shapes that are the points of a star. These points echo the four eight-pointed stars on our school crest.
The colours chosen are derived from our School colours of navy, white and gold. For this special year, we have focused on the gold and white. Together, these colours beautifully encapsulate the spirit and legacy of our School.
Legacy of Light
Our theme, Legacy of Light, is inspired by our School motto, Via Crucis – Via Lucis (The Way of the Cross is the Way of Light).
The word Legacy speaks to our transformative history, strong traditions, and steadfast values. It celebrates the positive impact we have made in the lives of our students and the wider community. The word Light represents our faith and hope, our vibrant and nurturing community, and the future we continue to build.
Together, Legacy of Light captures both the stability and growth of our school. It acknowledges the challenges we've overcome and the resilience we have built, celebrating our journey from the past to the present and into the future.
