St Andrew's Cathedral School has created an inspiring Leadership lecture series for teachers seeking to develop their leadership potential. The two dynamic lectures for 2025 will deliver powerful insights into educational leadership. Teachers from all schools, sectors and stages are welcome to attend.
Neil McDonald has worked as a teacher and principal in a range of schools: Primary and Secondary, P-12 schools and special education. As Chief Executive Officer of three large organisations and having significant experience in Human Resources within the state school sector, his diverse background enables him to effectively support leaders at all levels.
In this session, Neil will present the research and models that are integral to leading effective change – enabling staff to better understand their 'influencing style'. He will discuss change theory and explore the skills of 'predicting the crowd' – a precursor to leading change. Finally, Neil will present a tool for planning and executing change effectively, discussing best practise for navigating conflicting ideas and processes.
As a fully accredited coach with Growth Coaching International (GCI), Neil has partnered with aspiring managers, principals, and middle and senior leaders. He uniquely appreciates the complexities and challenges that both early and experienced leaders face and adopts a coaching style that enables him to connect to the context and challenges they face.
